LB Homes is a proud partner in the We Honor Veterans program with the Veterans Adminstration. LB Homes is the regions only partner, providing level three services to our community as we serve veterans.

LB Homes exists to provide Christ-centered care and support. With that vision LB Homes engages the needs of those we encounter, concerned first and foremost with providing compassionate care as the primary motivation of the organization. As a member of the We Honor Veterans program, LB Homes provides services not only to veterans, but also to the local community.

“In order to provide Veteran-centered care, it is valuable to have a situational awareness pertaining to America’s generations of Veterans. Every Veteran, from WWII to the War on Terror, carries a different set of burdens.”

— CHAPLAIN AARON CHRISTENSON

To hold a level three distinction with the We Honor Veterans program LB Homes must conduct community Veteran-specific presentations. These presentations at a minimum must be for administrative and clinical staff in addition to volunteers connected to our hospice arm, LB Hospice. In addition so specialized training for the LB Homes staff, LB Homes provides community education for at least one Veteran organization and one community or healthcare venue. LB Homes actively engages the community to provide more than the minimum for the distinction of being a level three partner, with Chaplain Aaron Christenson a primary resource of LB Homes. Through Aaron’s passion and commitment to caring for veterans, LB Homes offers resources to the local community.

With Christenson on staff, LB Homes has excelled in their engagement of the program, not only engaging the Veterans Administration to provide quality services in the Fergus Falls community, but also engaging the local VFW through Aaron’s passion to care for veterans in our community.

“The fact is this, trauma, abuse, and neglect impact everyone for their lifetime. It is only through walking with Veterans, hearing their story, and understanding their needs, that one may connect their needs with resources. That is what we aim to do, understand the needs of Veterans and their families and meet those needs through Christ-centered love in Word and Deed.”

— AARON CHRISTENSON

“The military is a subculture in the American society.” Christenson notes. “Veterans share a common language, similar world views, parallel experiences, and a warrior ethos that tends to unite us.” Christenson notes that his passionate engagement of the care necessary for veterans is that he understand how best to provide quality care, not simply fulfill a role in an organization. “In order to provide Veteran-centered care, it is valuable to have a situational awareness pertaining to America’s generations of Veterans. Every Veteran, from WWII to the War on Terror, carries a different set of burdens.”

Aaron Christenson is an active duty chaplain who is also serving at LB Homes to aid in providing Christ-centered care and support. He is pictured above on a deployment in Egypt.

Christenson is an integral rock in our local community as we provide care for area veterans. His perspective in how trauma can impact an individual is Biblically-based, noting that care not only engages the physical ways we see our veterans hurting, but to minister to the entire person.
